English/Science task 1

Play this game for 15 minutes and then write about what you found out/enjoyed/ was frustrated by. 5 sentences= 10 marks.

Play the game again from yesterday for 15 mins and this time write 5 hints on how to be successful. Write them using imperative (bossy) verbs e.g Make sure………. 10 marks – 5 for accuracy; 5 for the verbs.  10 bonus marks if you use commas around clauses in at least three of the sentences.

If you need to, play the game for 15 mins and this time write a review for children. It must be at least 5 sentences long.  10 marks for persuasion; 10 marks for showing you are clear of your audience(children) ; 10 marks for sentence construction – so your sentences don’t all start the same way.

Learning Objective: To learn and identify position of lines of latitude,longitude,the tropics, the Arctic and Antarctic circle and the Equator.

On this world map co ordinates sheet, label the lines of latitude,longitude,the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, the Arctic circle, Northern hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere , Antarctic circle and the Equator.  Then find and label a country in the Arctic circle… do the same for each of the tropics and the Antarctic circle- can you find a country on the Equator?  Check your spelling and capital letters

5. Send me the labelled map 14 marks for each label correctly spelled with capitals in the right place.

If you are at home, measure the perimeter and area of different rooms or garden.  Challenge – how much carpet for your stairs and landing?? How much wall paper for a particular room – draw a plan to show how you work it out.

1.  Go through the fossils powerpoint (presentation 1) and write down your answers to the plenary questions:

 a)  What are the three main ways fossils are formed and b)  What can fossils tell us?
