History: Viking Raiders and Settlers
This week we are learning about the history of those great seafarers, the Vikings, who settled and prospered in Britain beginning in the 9th century. There is a great resource on Espresso (see the pdf file “Be a Viking Explorer”). You will need the login and password student 23616 / coding. When you load the lesson you will find a bar at the top of the screen (see below) which will guide you through the special home learning sequence.
- Explore the resources on Espresso. Watch the videos. Take the quizzes.
- Follow your interests. If you are interested in a particular aspect of the Vikings, such as their religion, ships, poetry, weapons, then feel free to focus on that.
- Decide how you will present your learning: handwriting, Powerpoint, poster, booklet, video?
- Explore other resources. For example, on the BBC iPlayer there is the documentary “Wild Way of the Vikings” which looks at wildlife through the eyes of the Vikings. You can learn a lot about the Viking people while gazing at the beautiful animals and landscapes! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0006bhg/wild-way-of-the-vikings
Anglia Water has prepared a series of lessons about water. In the first lesson (see pdf “The Water Cycle”), we learn about how water continually moves around the planet, changing states between liquid, solid and gas.
Don’t worry if you don’t have all the resources for the activities – do what you can.
