Year 1 Letter 1st Sept 2022

We hope that you have an enjoyable summer and will be refreshed and ready to join us for the Autumn term. Here’s some useful information for the year ahead.

Arriving at school – Please drop your Coot at the same gate as when they were in reception. Once in the gate, they can pop their belongings onto the trolley, which will be by the gate, and then year ones go to the playground until staff bring them in at 8:55.

What do I need? – Please bring a coat, water bottle and wellies on the first day. It will also be very helpful if your child has a named book-bag, so they can bring their reading book in every day. Please don’t send in back-packs as we are very limited for space.

Lunches â€“ Lunches will continue in the same way, and the current menu carries on in the Autumn term.

PE – Our weekly PE lessons will still be on a Tuesday, so please make sure your child is wearing their PE kit to school. PE is usually outside, so black joggers, or shorts in warmer weather, and a hoodie or sweatshirt will be great, with trainers rather than plimsolls. Please name everything! Thank you so much. We won’t have PE on the first day back.

Home time â€“ At the end of the day we will bring your child to the gate next to Coots class. Please let us know if someone else is collecting your child or if they are going to after-school club.

Tapestry – In year one, we use Tapestry as more of a messaging system, for example for telling you about the weekly spellings they need to learn.

And finally…

We are looking forward to another great year with Coots.  Please ask us if you have any questions at all about what we are getting up to in Coots.  Thank you for your support and interest.
