Mathematics

Children’s knowledge, skills and understanding in mathematics develop as they use it in practical activities, to solve relevant and meaningful problems, and to explore the patterns and relationships on which mathematical concepts depend. These skills are required in all areas of the curriculum. We use the Primary Framework for Mathematics to guide planning, ensuring that the National Curriculum is covered. Children are encouraged to participate in mathematics events including World Maths Day, and the Primary Mathematics Challenge further up the school. All children experience a daily mathematics lesson. Our main aim is that all our pupils will develop a positive attitude to mathematics and learn to use it with confidence, understanding and pleasure.
