Fledglings Autumn

This term, we have enjoyed observing the environmental changes from Summer to Autumn. The children collected leaves themselves and used them for various activities, such as making leaf crowns and making different sequences and patterns.

We also celebrated fireworks night, by discussing how we need to stay safe around fireworks, as well as practising our mark making skills in a range of materials such as coloured sand, shaving foam and rice!

We have taken part in some activities to raise awareness for Remembrance Day, taking part in the two-minute silence, as well as making our own painted poppies and role-playing with the knights and the castles. To raise awareness for anti-bullying week, we took part in ‘odd socks day’, and highlighted how we are kind to our friends and what it means to be a ‘good friend’. We have also been making flags, bunting and finding numbered footballs underneath coloured rice and flour to celebrate England representing our country in the men’s World Cup!

The children have enjoyed working in our own ‘Fledglings Supermarket’, alongside our very own post office! We have been practising using monetary terminology whilst buying different items, as well as writing and posting our important letters, using stampers.

We have been getting ready for Christmas, and a yearly tradition for us is to take part in making Christingles! We discussed the meaning of each part, such as the 4 seasons, the light of the world and God’s love, whilst encouraging the children to put together their lovely Christingles independently.
